Balfour Beatty Sakti Environmental Policy

As one of Indonesia's multidiscipline construction and engineering companies, Balfour Beatty Sakti takes a close and responsible interest in the environmental impact of the infrastructure, building, industrial development and other projects with which it is concerned.

It seeks always to act in accordance with good practice, preserving and where possible enhancing the quality of the environment.  Where the Company is involved in the design or promotion of new projects, it regards their environmental impact as a prime consideration, and wherever possible seeks environmental benefit.  As a contractor, whether or not the Company is engaged in the initial design of such projects, it seeks to contribute, in their implementation, to an outcome which is sympathetic to the environment.

Within this approach:

  • Balfour Beatty Sakti managers are required to ensure that the units for which they are responsible comply fully with currently prescribed environmental standards. (Act no. 4/82 on Environment Control, Government Regulations:  no. 29/86 Environment Analysis on Development and Industrial activity, no. 20/90 Water Pollution Control).  And to regard the achievement of those standards as a minimum.
  • Balfour Beatty Sakti staff are encouraged to take a close and continuing interest in environmental questions in their area of activity and the importance of environmental awareness is featured in Group training courses.
  • Balfour Beatty Sakti clients are offered the benefit of the Company and its Parent Groupings wide experience in the use of materials, particularly with regard to their safety and environmental suitability.
  • The Company is committed to phasing out, as per international consensus, the use of products that employ CFCs and it is our aim to use timber only from well‑managed sources.
  • Recycling and re‑use of materials is encouraged throughout the Company wherever quality and cost allow.
  • Examples of good environmental practice are publicised widely within the Company to stimulate further endeavour.

The Company periodically reviews the implementation of this policy.
